Through the NZ based crowdfunding platform Fundnation, Beatnik Publishing is excited at the possibility of producing a book showcasing the innovative and eccentric visual output of one of New Zealand’s most important artists and performers Chris Knox.
Chris Mousdale was recently approached by Chris Knox's family and is thrilled to be working on ‘Grafix Knox-The Graphic Art of Chris Knox’
“It’s a really exciting project and I think people are going to be bowled over by the richness of Chris Knox’s visual archives.
The body of work is impressive and there’s a real sense of a maverick voice in a constant dialogue with events of the day, be they cultural, political or musical.
His recent works such as the ‘Electric’ series of paintings offer a startling graphic insight into the impact and after-effects of the life-changing stroke that befell Chris in 2009.
This book will bring together these powerful contemporary images as well as a wealth of record cover designs, comics and cartoons, animation cells, paintings and constructions and oodles and oodles of essential Knox grafix.”
Not only is this opportunity a way to preserve Chris’ contributions to New Zealand culture, but is also a way to continue the support Chris and his family has been receiving since his stroke. Proceeds from the publication of this fascinating, long overdue book will go towards this cause.
